Welcome to the Tarpon's 18th year in the Southwest Houston Recreational Swim League! Take a minute to download and read the "Registration Information Letter". This letter is FULL of all kinds of information - volunteer expectations, practice times, prices, important dates, refund policy, swimsuit information, merchandise etc., etc., etc....
Please make sure to fill out ALL parts of the registration form. All fees are clearly marked on the Registration Information Letter & the registration form. We need a SEPARATE SHRSL form for each swimmer. This is for insurance reasons.
Returning Tarpon Family Registration: February 14 - March 6.
New Territory Residents Registration (New Families): March 7 - March 14.
Open Registration at The Club in New Territory: March 23, 24 from 5:30-7:30 and
March 27 from 10:00-12:00.
*Forms can be mailed until March 14. After March 14, you may turn in forms
at open registration. Returning Tarpon families will have priority registration
over new NT residents up to March 6.
Qualifications and guidelines to swim for SHRSL and the Tarpons after May 14:
1. Must be 18 years of age or younger as of May 31, 2010.
2. Must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) freestyle, unassisted.
3. All swimmers 8-10 years of age should have a working knowledge of all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and should be legal in at least two.
4. 11 and up need to swim 50 yards (2 lengths of the pool) in at least three strokes.
5. All swimmers must attend at least four of the six dual swim meets, but we expect attendance at ALL of the meets.
6. All swimmers are strongly encouraged to attend as many practices as possible.
7. Parent involvement is required to have a child on the team.
8. Fins are required for all swimmers.
9. Affiliation with any other swim team must end March 31, 2010 in order to be eligible to participate (does not include high school teams or clinics in April that run for 7 total practices).
10. The Tarpon team is not a learn-to-swim program. We are a competitive swim team.
11. You must be in good standing with the NTRCA.
