1. Practice this week
Practice this week, May 14-18, is at The Club. The Torpedoes will be at the other pool, so be sure that you switch pools with us!
As always, if your swimmer bikes or walks to practice, be sure to plan ahead for a safe and prompt ride home in case of thunderstorms. Get Tarpons rainout information via text – text the message @tarpons2 to the phone number 81010 to join. Remember that we do swim in the rain, but not if there is lightning in the area.
2. Volunteer signup
The first wave of volunteer signup (Meets 1&2) goes live this Wednesday, May 16, at 8:00 AM, on our website: http://www.newterritorytarpons.com. If you haven’t done volunteer signup before, our website has complete how-to instructions. To add adults to your record so they can volunteer, email [email protected].
What job should you choose? Job Descriptions are on our website. Training is available for all of the jobs, if you want it, but the only job that requires annual training is Stroke Judge (read below). For questions about volunteering, check our website, then ask our awesome volunteer coordinators, Jamie Daughdrill and Purvi Baron, at [email protected]
3. Stroke judge clinics – you should go!
We need stroke judges! Attending a clinic doesn’t mean that you have to judge, but you do have to attend a league clinic to be qualified to judge (“long” clinic if you didn’t attend last year, or “short” clinic option if you did attend last year). Go and check out a clinic, even/especially if you’re new to the team – it’s interesting and doesn’t take long to learn.
The clinic schedule is here: http://shrsl.org/clinics/ The clinics are free, there is no test, and you don’t even have to RSVP, but be sure to sign in when you arrive.
4. Are you a singer?
At the start of each home swim meet, we have a volunteer person or group lead everyone in the national anthem. We have three home meets this year, so we’re looking for swimmers who are interested in the anthem. Email Laura for more details – [email protected]
5. Tarpons STUFF
Personalized cap orders have been submitted, and will be delivered at practice when they arrive (approx. 10 days). Tarpons towels, ribbon holders, caps, shirts, the team photo, and more are available on the Shop page and at meets. Coming this week -- order Tarpons yard signs!
If you didn’t pick up your family’s team goody bag at the kickoff party, stop by to get it at the first meet.
Team shirts are coming – delivery details about them are coming, too!
Our 2018 Tarpons team suits looked great for the team photo! They are still available at Finish Line Sports in the Sugar Creek Shopping Center. Tell them that you are with the Tarpons, and they will help you find the right suit. 13895 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX (US 59 at Sugar Creek Blvd.), phone 281-242-7700
Thanks for reading! Go Tarpons!
